Teens Krav Maga
(Ages 12–16)

Confidence, fitness and real-world self-defence skills

Our Teens Krav Maga programme is designed for young people aged 12-16 who want to build confidence, fitness and practical self-defence skills in a structured and supportive environment.

Training follows the same principles we use in adult classes, adapted for teens. Sessions are challenging, engaging and focused on real-life situations, while still prioritising safety, control and good decision-making.

This isn’t about bravado or fighting.
It’s about learning how to stay calm, aware and capable under pressure.

  • Are aged 12 to 16
  • Want to build confidence and resilience
  • Enjoy physical challenges
  • Need structure and discipline
  • Want practical self-defence skills
  • Are beginners or have previous training experience

What teens will learn

Teens Krav Maga focuses on both physical skills and mindset.

Training helps teens develop:

  • Confidence and self-belief
  • Awareness and decision-making
  • Physical fitness and coordination
  • Stress management under pressure
  • Practical self-defence skills
  • Respect, discipline and responsibility

Skills are taught progressively, with clear explanations and controlled practice.

How teens classes are structured

Teens classes follow a clear, repeatable structure similar to adult training.

A typical class includes:

  • Warm-up and movement
  • Technical skill development
  • Drills and partner work
  • Scenario-based training
  • Conditioning and cool down

This structure keeps training focused, engaging and purposeful.

Safety and coaching standards

Safety is taken seriously in all teens classes.

  • Training is closely supervised
  • Techniques are adapted for age and ability
  • No uncontrolled sparring
  • Clear behaviour standards are enforced calmly
  • Coaches focus on control, not ego

Teens are challenged appropriately without being overwhelmed.

Progress and development

Teens Krav Maga uses a belt and grading system to give structure and motivation.

Progress is based on:

  • Consistency and effort
  • Understanding of techniques
  • Attitude and behaviour
  • Personal development

Gradings are there to support learning, not to add pressure.

Teens grading and progression

Our Teens Krav Maga programme follows the official KMG Teen grading system, from T1 to T5.

Gradings take place every 6 months and give teens a clear, realistic goal to work towards.

Progress is not rushed.
It’s earned through consistency and effort.

Between gradings, teens are required to collect stripes, which are awarded during regular training for:

  • Attendance and consistency
  • Understanding of skills
  • Attitude and behaviour
  • Effort and engagement in class

To be eligible for grading, a teen must collect three stripes between grading periods.

This system helps ensure that:

  • Teens progress at the right pace
  • Standards are fair and consistent
  • Grades actually mean something

Stripes and gradings are there to support development, not to add pressure.

Instructors guide teens throughout the process and will always explain what’s needed well in advance.

Cycle-based training approach

Teens Krav Maga follows a cycle-based training structure, similar to our adult programme.

Training is organised into themed cycles. Each cycle focuses on a specific area of self-defence and personal development, helping teens build skills progressively and understand how everything connects.

Example cycle themes include:

  • Striking & Movement Under Pressure
  • Clinching, Control & Takedowns
  • Ground Survival & Getting Up
  • Multiple Attackers & Decision Making
  • Weapons Awareness (stick and knife, taught at a teen-appropriate level)
  • Integrated Fighting & Scenarios

Cycles repeat and build over time, so teens can join at any point without feeling behind.

This approach helps teens:

  • See clear progress
  • Stay engaged and motivated
  • Understand why they are learning certain skills
  • Apply techniques realistically, not in isolation

Training is challenging, structured and always age-appropriate.

How joining works

Unlike younger kids programmes, teens can start at any time.

  • Trials are always open
  • Teens can join an existing class
  • Training cycles are designed so new starters can integrate smoothly

This flexibility makes it easier for teens to start when they’re ready.
