MMA Training

A practical mix of striking and grappling, taught by experienced coaches

Our MMA training at Iron Skull Gym brings together the disciplines we know and teach best.

This is not a UFC fight camp and it’s not competition-focused sport MMA.
Instead, it’s a practical, structured mix of striking and grappling, built from Muay Thai, Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, taught by coaches with real experience in those areas.

If you’re interested in learning how different fighting ranges connect – standing, clinch and ground – this style of MMA makes sense.

What we mean by MMA

MMA simply means Mixed Martial Arts.

At Iron Skull Gym, that means combining the things we actually know and train:

  • Striking influenced by boxing and Muay Thai
  • Clinch work and close range control
  • Grappling and ground work from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
  • Movement, pressure and decision making influenced by Krav Maga

If you remove the street context, weapons and tactical elements from Krav Maga, what remains is a very functional blend of striking and grappling. That blend sits naturally within traditional MMA.

What our MMA training is not

This approach suits people who:

  • Want a balanced skill set across striking and grappling
  • Are interested in learning how ranges connect
  • Prefer technical learning over constant hard sparring
  • Want structured coaching and clear explanations
  • Enjoy training without ego or pressure

It works for beginners and for people with previous training experience.

How MMA classes are structured

MMA sessions are coached and purposeful.

A typical class may include:

  • Warm up and movement
    Striking and footwork
  • Clinch control and takedown entries
  • Ground positioning and escapes
  • Linking skills together through controlled drills

Sparring, where used, is controlled and appropriate. It is never the main focus.

Coaching background

Our MMA training reflects the experience of the coaching team.

  • Muay Thai coaches with real fight experience
  • Krav Maga instruction at expert level
  • Brazilian Jiu Jitsu background for ground control

We teach what we know and we teach it properly.

There is no pretending to be something we are not.

Training environment and safety

Training is structured and closely supervised.

  • Safety, control and learning come first.
  • Techniques are introduced progressively.
  • Contact is appropriate to experience level.
  • The atmosphere is respectful and supportive.

This allows people to train consistently over the long term.

How getting started works

MMA training follows the same entry process as our other adult classes.

We do not offer free trials for adults.

New starters begin with a paid adult intro option.

This allows you to train in real classes, experience the coaching style and decide if this approach to MMA is right for you.

No previous experience is required.
